Whatever..... March 7, 2021
Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for he Lord and not for people. Colossians 3:23 CSB Have you ever considered that the “whatever” in your life needs to be worship? This worship understands that, in him we live and move and have our being. Acts 17:28 ESV This would include work, retirement, recreation or ......”whatever,” to be worship. As a disciple it is important to view life in this fashion because it gives evidence that you live with the understanding that we need to.... Keep our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 CSB It will be and is a testimony of what you believe when you do everything you do— for God.
WHATEVER YOU DO: As disciples, our lives should give testimony to the world that we are believers. Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 ESV ....... So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
DO IT HEARTILY: As a disciple, your total being should be focused upon the Lord. Paul said it like this to the men of Athens, “In him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:28 ESV God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit should always be the focus of our life . Let me remind you once again...... “Everything begins in the mind.” I believe that every good or evil thought and intention originates consciously or unconsciously in the mind. This is why Romans 12:2 addresses this issue, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV) If we do everything with the goal of being a reflection of Christ, we will be more effective in influencing others to look to him. This isn’t a casual life style but one that is intentionally lived heartily with enthusiasm for the things of God.
FOR THE LORD: While worship can be seen by outward expressions, a disciple must always remember - true worship happens in the heart. Worship from the heart isn’t something simply talked about, but a deep awareness of God’s presence in your life. Lip service was described by Jesus in Matthew 15:8 (ESV) This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. When our heart is in fellowship with God, our actions become a lifestyle of love, not of duty. This is best described as..... LIVING FOR THE LORD.
APPLICATION: As a follower, REMEMBER why you do what you do.... It is not for people, but for God. Remembering is of extreme importance, for it will motivate you in your reason for living. When we fail to remember all God has done, we begin to live based upon man’s wisdom and we will cease to worship. When we cease to worship, our heart will grow cold and no longer follow Psalm 103: “let all that is within me praise him”. I encourage you this week to do “whatever” intentionally for the Lord. `
