The Mind Transformed …. JANUARY 05, 2020

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable, and perfect. Romans 12:2 ESV

Is your mind useful to God? Can we know what the perfect will of God is? Can a person’s mind really be transformed and renewed to focus upon the things of God? The answer to each of these questions…. is yes. If a Christian dwells on bad thoughts, thinks negatively, or focuses upon the logic of this world, they will never grasp the abundant grace that can be experienced by a mind focused upon God and his ways. The possibility of change that I’m teaching is a transformation that takes place in the person’s mind once that person has been redeemed by the blood of Jesu sand has made Him Lord in their life. The mind transformation comes as a result of the indwelling Holy Spirit which will teach you how to discern the things of God. If a Christian wants to see change in their life, they must train their mind to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. It is important to know and to remember that the Holy Spirit will never lead you in a way that contradicts scripture. Be aware, the mind is a battle ground in which Satan will attempt to infiltrate and cause confusion in the Christian’s life. Except for the presence of the Holy Spirit, a person will think, grow, and conform to worldly logic. The frightening thing about this is … There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12 @ 16:25 ESV

Is your mind useful to God?

What thoughts control your mind? As Christians we need to make our mind think in sync with God. I understand our minds cannot even begin to comprehend the mind of God, for He is awesome. To say, “His thoughts are far above ours,” would be an understatement. Yet the Bible… God’s word to us, tells us how we should think. …… Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these thing. Philippians 4:8 ESV While this verse isn’t speaking directly about the life of Jesus, it describes well the life Jesus lived, and he is absolutely worthy of praise. In short, think much about Jesus and the life he lived and make it your goal to be more like Him. What we tend to occupy our mind with is what we tend to talk about… so make your mind useful to God…. Think much about his Son.

Can we know the will of God?

Are you looking for what is good…. acceptable….. and perfect to God? That is where you begin when wanting to know the will God. If you want to find those things, make sure you are looking in the right places. The best place to start when wanting to know God’s will is the Bible, which is God’s word to us. Here are a couple of examples, though some may not like the answer. You love a person who isn’t a Christian and wonder if you should marry them; or, should I go into business with a certain person who is not a Christian? What does the Bible say about it? Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 ESV It is important to remember, the Holy Spirit will never lead you to do something that contradicts scripture.

To transform is to change in thought or appearance so much so that others not e. As a Christian you shouldn’t be what you once were, but you are not yet what you will become. Our minds should become more Christ-like every day. As a disciple or follower of Jesus we are to be just that…. Disciple… followers…. desiring to learn to become more like Him. This will happen as you change your thought process to want only what God wants for you. This is making Him Lord of your life.

Don’t say, someday I will… Start right where you are. Find a Bible verse and use it as a platform to begin the transforming of your mind. Perhaps Romans 12:1-2 would be good verses to apply here for this year. Live and do this intentionally every day, that you might begin to develop the mind of Christ.
