No One Like Our God..... Part 2 ..... May 10, 2020

That you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God. Exodus 8:10 ESV

Elohim.. Mighty Creator... In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 ESV

In the beginning- Elohim ... GOD....spoke into existence, from nothing, everything that we can see, hear, and touch. The words “God said” is the beginning statement of each verse as follows in Genesis 1: vs 3...vs6...vs9..vs14...vs16..vs20...vs24...vs26... This is how we have come to know and are introduced to God for the first time in scripture... as the mighty creator of all things. Remember this very important fact, God made no mistakes. God is perfect and in the beginning, everything created by him was perfect..... there was no sin, no death, no sadness or sorrow, no questions.... perfect... everything was simply perfect. Sin caused imperfections in this world, yet God is and remains ..... perfect / Holy. I know there are many who question the perfection of God, or if God even existed or created the world, but the fact remains.... he is perfect and is the creator of all things that he refers to as good. I do not begin to understand the how, why, and purpose of all things but this I know.... God does not make mistakes. It is perfect love.. God’s love... that caused him not to erase us from creation when we sinned, but rather made a way of redemption in order to restore us to the perfection we had with him before sin entered the world. Sin was the result of a choice that was made by the ones created in his image. This proves again the mighty power of God in creating a way back to him when sin separated us from him.

God’s perfect Gift...Life: Every good gift and every perfect gift is coming from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 ESV Just as God is perfect, anything that comes from God is perfect. Jesus, God’s Son, came down and became flesh and lived among us for the purpose of saving us from the consequence of our sin. He who was perfect became sin for us that we might become perfect in his sight. For our sakes he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV Perfect not in and of ourselves, but perfect because we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus and have the dwelling Holy Spirit within us. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is a GIFT OF GOD, not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV God himself made it possible to walk once again as we walked in the garden .... in fellowship with him.

What we must do: When people recognize their sin, they must deal with it the only way it can be dealt with. Repent and confess it to God, asking for his help to do what you could never do.... create a clean heart. This is what David did when recognizing his sin. He confessed, Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight Psalm 51:4a ESV He then asked, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 ESV David asked God not to do to him what he did in the garden... to be cast from his presence... Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:11 ESV The whole chapter of Psalm 51 provides a clear picture of what a repentant heart before God looks like. This needs to be the heart cry before God of anyone who wishes to receive his perfect gift of grace, mercy, and love. Not just the words for they may vary, but a heart /spirit that is broken because of sin is how true salvation is experienced. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17 ESV

God is Sovereign over all: The mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion the perfection of beauty, GOD SHINES FORTH... Psalm 50:1-2 ESV God created all things and created order, and without his restraining hand, sin would destroy everything which he created. Sin, however, does not have dominion over all the earth .... God does. It is in His mercy that God restrains his final judgment upon all his creation. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 ESV Remember the words of Nahum when describing God. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power. Nahum 1:3a ESV

There is no one like the Lord our God. Exodus 8:10 ESV

Application: Over 2500 times in the Bible the name Elohim is used to describe God. With that knowledge and understanding, read, study, meditate and pray knowing that God is: Elohim.. Mighty Creator. If you have never received the perfect gift of life from God, read Psalm 51 and follow the pattern of repentance as described by David in his own life. Then make it known, just like David described, that others may know as well. Never forget that God is in control.... He is sovereign over all the earth.
