No One Like Our God..... Part 1 ..... May 3, 2020

That you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God. Exodus 8:10 ESV

The above verse is the word that Moses spoke to Pharaoh when ridding Egypt of the plague of frogs.... “There is no one like the Lord our God.” There were many gods during Pharaoh’s day and many in our world today, but there is not, nor will there ever be, any like the Lord our God. Pharaoh, when asked of Moses, when he would like the frogs gone said, “ Tomorrow.” WHY? Every house in Egypt was overrun with frogs and Pharaoh was willing to spend one more night with the frogs. You would have thought he’d say, “ Now, Moses, get rid of them now!!” I wonder if he was still looking for a way to get rid of them himself so he could say, “I am like your God, for I did it myself, before tomorrow came.” Are we like that in any way? Desiring to take care of impossible situations ourself rather than calling upon the Lord our God? I hope not, for that is not a camp we would want to be in. God, the creator of the universe, is beyond comprehension or exclamation. We can trust him with every fiber of our life and everything that we encounter. Trusting is easier said than done at times, yet it is exactly where God wants us to be. Being there is to acknowledge him in all your ways. (Proverbs 3:6) God tells us, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thought than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 ESV Let me just reflect on some of the Psalms describing how great and awesome our God is. Your way, O God , is holy. What god is great like our God? Psalm 77:13 ESV There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. Psalm 86:8 ESV.... For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. Psalm 86:10 ESV For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Psalms 95:3 ESV For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Psalms 135:5 ESV

If you were so inclined ... what would you write concerning the Lord your God? If you were to leave a message to your children, grandchildren, friends, brother or sister or whoever, how would you describe God, so they would understand there is truly one like the Lord our God? Let me remind you of some things that have made God like no one else in your life.

SALVATION: There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Act 4:12 ESV There is no other god or name by which you have received salvation from your sins. Only the Lord Jesus Christ whom God the Father sent to die for our sins can save you from the consequence of sin. You cannot think, reason, nor imagine your way out of this sin condition..... the only way out is by the blood of the Lamb of God.... his Son, Jesus. John the Baptist described him like this... Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. John 1:29b ESV You will view him as..... no one like the Lord our God, when you understand all that he has forgiven in your life. You will love him much. ( Luke 7:47 )

ADOPTION: But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 4:5 ESV For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry Abba! Father! Romas 8:15 ESV As Christians we have, by grace, been adopted into the family of God. God called us through and by his grace, that we might receive forgiveness of sin and then be recognized as one of his own. Christians are children of God, chosen by him to receive salvation. God did all that was necessary to fulfill the requirements of his law and made it possible for this spiritual adoption. So we can sing the old song with confidence, “I’m a child of the King, Praise God , I’m a child of the King.”

THE HOLY SPIRIT: Not only did he save and adopt us, He sent the Holy Spirit to live inside of us as his followers. As Christians we are temples of the Holy Spirit. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 ESV Jesus told his disciples that the Holy Spirit would come, and just as Jesus said, the Spirit came. The Holy Spirit, in your life, gives testimony of the fact that you belong to God. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13 ESV

APPLICATION / LIVING ON PURPOSE: Live with the intention of leaving this testimony to all those who know you—that you truly believe that There is no one like the Lord our God. Exodus 8:10 ESV May your Bible be marked up with notes of praise to God our Savior, Father, and Lord. Believe there is no one like God and make it intentional to know more about him everyday. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8a ESV
