Love God.... With All Your Soul ..... September 27, 2020

You shall LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD with ALL YOUR HEART and WITH ALL YOUR SOUL and with all your mind. Matthew 22:37 ESV What makes up the soul of a person? It may be said of someone who is well thought of, “They are or were a good soul.” So when we refer to a person as a good soul, we are referring to what comes from inside that person that makes them who they are from a worldly viewpoint. It must be remembered; however, that God evaluates the soul’s motives based on His eternal purpose. When we love God with all our soul, we are loving him with an eternal value and purpose that supersedes any value of this world. It ties together the heart, which represents life, and the mind, which represents thought. The soul’s purpose is to bring Him much glory. The soul that has been redeemed by God through the cross will live forever. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1: 8-9 ESV. We became a living soul when God gave us breath. Genesis 2:7). Death attached itself to the soul when sin was conceived, but salvation of the soul was made possible on the cross by Christ, who took the punishment for our sin and restored life to the soul. When Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your soul,” He was referring to all that is within you. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalm 103:1 ESV. This is one of God’s love languages .... Blessings. So we love him with eternal purpose when we love him enough to Bless His Holy Name with all that is within us. With this mindset let us look at how we can love him with all our soul.

Evaluate All That Is Within You: For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my SOUL knows it well. Psalm 139:13-14 ESV....Search me and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 ESV. Know this fact: you were created by God in your mother’s womb. The breath that you breathe was given to you by God. Our bodies and our minds, as stated above, are tied together by the soul that God placed within you. Though the flesh will return to dust and the mind sleep, the soul is that inward part that will go before God. That is why our prayer should be: God lead us so that all that is within us .... Blesses your Holy Name.

Worship His Greatness: Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty. Psalm 104:1 ESV When you love a person, it is evident in your speech concerning that person. When describing that person to others, you will often speak of the reasons for your love. What does your speech reveal concerning the love you have for God? Let us look at a couple of other passages that David wrote when speaking about God. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. Psalm 145:3 ESV..... Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness. Psalm 150:2 ESV. David loved God with all that was within him for he saw God.... as a great God and praised and worshipped him in that fact.

Bless His Holy Name: My mouth will speak the praises of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever. Psalm 145:21 ESV. When you live internally trusting and loving God, you are realizing that he is perfect in every way. Holy, Holy, Holy is the song we sing in recognition of his perfect Holiness, but this song will be sweeter to God when it is sung from a soul of true worship. This is a person who knows they sing to God and to the holiness of His Son who made possible the redemption of our soul from hell. (1 Peter 1:9).

Application: Reflect often upon God and meditate on his greatness. There are things which man interprets differently from scripture, but there is one fact that can never be misinterpreted— His greatness and His redeeming love as presented in the gospel....good news. Our minds can be overwhelmed by thoughts and our bodies will wear out and return to dust. The desire to ..... Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalms 103:1 ESV .....will only be true if you love him the same. You will not love God with all your soul unless you love him with all that is within you. The greater you believe God to be, the greater your love for him will be. The one thing that we can never question is God’s love for us, YET may God never question our love for him. Live and love God on purpose with all that is within you ...... with all your soul.
