Glorify God …… June14, 2020

I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, I will glorify your name forever. Psalm 86:12 ESV

Last week’s teaching was to…. desire God. When the greatest desire of your heart is to…. desire God, then you will grow in the desire to glorify Him with your life. Being the temple of the Holy Spirit is to have the Holy Spirit of God in your life and be a reflection of His glory to others. This is not in any way, shape, or form for your glory, but for God’s alone. What a privilege this is for the person who knows God as LORD and SAVIOR of their life, and as they glorify God , they make much of Him every day. Each day you take up the armor and fight against sin in your life for the purpose of presenting your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1b ESV For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV This is not simply talk, but action, as a Christian giving evidence of what you believe. It is not living as one in a waiting room, simply waiting for your turn to be called home to heaven. It is doing now what you will do one day in heaven when seeing God—— glorifying Him with every ounce of who you are in Christ.

Therefore…..

BLESS HIM:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Psalm 103:1 ESV Live your life to be a blessing to God for all the world to see. Blessing God is to live, lifting high the name of Jesus and proclaiming the gospel of salvation for all who will listen. When Jesus was lifted high upon the cross, He glorified God with the message of salvation that pleased and blessed his Father.

WORSHIP HIM:

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness. Psalm 29:2 ESV To ascribe is to give. We give worship to the Lord for who He is and for all He has given to us. Worthy is the Lord God of worship and praise simply because of who He is……… Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Psalm 96:9 ESV…… But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24 ESV Worshipping God in this manner means that you truly understand who Jesus Christ is… the Lamb of God who came and took away the sins of the world. (John 1:29) This person sees God in His creation and and is grateful for the splendor of His power and the wonderful works of His hands and all that He has done, is doing , and is yet to do. This person understands God is beyond the comprehension of the mind of man, yet he pursues, seeks to understand, and live in the acknowledged presence of God. This worship is a place of sweet rest…. It was where Mary was when she sat at the feet of Jesus. (Luke 10:42)

PRAISE HIM:

Is anything too hard for the LORD? (NIV)…..Is anything too difficult for the LORD? (NASB) Is anything impossible for the LORD? (HCSB) … Genesis 18:14 When a person's view of God is that, nothing limits Him, ( for God controls time, space, and all His creation), this persons has an understanding of God. This person will praise Him, for they realize their very life is a gift and was created by God….. in His image. (Genesis 1:26-27) They will praise Him for all life because it is a continual expression of His power, glory, and might as He continues even now creating life. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:23-14 ESV

APPLICATION:

Your view of God will determine whether you will glorify him as God. So first you must come to an understanding that God is not just another deity added to all to the others that man has created. He is the creator of all that is and without him nothing would exist. You start with Genesis chapter one and read it and reread it to see and understand that “In the beginning….. GOD”. If a person does not believe the starting point of our glimpse of God, then you will spend the rest of your Bible experience placing God in the box of your understanding and will limit God in your mind. So this is the application: Read and believe, for without this, you will never come to a point in your life of believing to the point of ….. GLORIFYING HIM AS GOD.
